  I think to get the best experience out of Bon's, you have to understand and respect how it operates. Yes, you pour your own drinks. I think it's great. When you see how busy they get, it's actually a blessing that you don't have to wait around to get a coffee or top up your water. You don't come to Bon's to have someone hold your hand throughout your meal. You order, receive your meal, eat and pay. I think the best advice I can give someone who's worried about the food quality/value. Just get the bon's breakfast. It's the most consistently, predictable meal on the menu. There's a reason this place is known for it.
  
  Don't sit at a dirty table! This is an unspoken rule at every restaurant, it's not an unreasonable rule. I'm glad that they enforce it because it's a very bad habit for customers to have. Nobody wants to have to drop what they're doing to clear around you because you want a special table. You don't come to bon's for the atmosphere or the mind-blowing views. You come for a cheap, quick and filling meal. Don't be surprised if staff get frustrated with you when you ignore their only rule.
  
  I love Bon's because I know, weather I'm doing well or am totally broke, there is still a place in Vancouver where I can go to get a nice, hot meal.

  Bon's Off Broadway is like that Cult Classic TV Show or Film that you may not totally understand why people like it. Here's the deal: Go in with the expectation that it's a grungy hole in the wall with cheap food. Also know that you gotta grab your own coffee refills (but in some ways I kind of like this, I mean, it's more annoying waiting around for 15 minutes for a refill because they're slammed).
  
  Atmosphere: Okay, first of all, the vibe is grungy and awesome. The walls are plastered with writing in Sharpie, cool stickers, graffiti and pictures of people who have come through or bands. Feel free to add to the walls too, apparently so remember that Sharpie! Tunes are good and unexpected -- I think they may have been playing some funky techno yesterday morning which kind of seem unexpected but also somehow fitting? You'l find young, old, families.. everything!
  
  Food: This is why people come here.. Their Breakfast special is 2.95 -- toast, eggs, potatoes and bacon, ham or sausage. Eggs cooked to how you like. Coffee is only a BUCK and you grab refills yourself! What? Anyways, they obviously have way more food on the menu, pancakes, waffles, I'm not even sure, that are a few bucks more than the special. So, how did the special taste? Yeah, like it was 2.95. Eggs seemed kind of small and watery and watered down -- is that possible? Potatoes weren't bad but nothing special or flavourful, toast was pretty flimsy toast and the bacon was also meh.. But it was $2.95! And it's an experience going there.
  
  You pay for what you get, but the environment is pretty cool and you can fill your belly for dirt cheap.

  Came here on a Wednesday around 1100 and it was packed with a fairly eclectic bunch of hungry folks. First impression, this place looks like an abandoned building on the inside; writing all over the walls, torn posters. Second impression, the look is contrived but looks bad and makes the place seem dirty (it wasn't). The waitress was very nice. She explained you can get up to get your own coffee anytime and gave me a menu. Nothing unusual on the bill of fare. I got the eggs, toast and corned beef hash. It was nothing special and was $12. I got my weak coffee, watched the busy crowds enter and leave after getting their $2.99 breakfast. I settled the bill at the counter. This place strikes me as a punk rock influenced greasy spoon for a fast, bargain seeking crowd who like weak coffee in an eccentric environment. There was really nothing here that makes me want to return, but it's unique. Unique ain't always good.

  I don't think I will come here ever again. I just came back recently and was surprised that the place got dirtier than before. It wasn't as good as its used to be. I got the $2.95 breakfast and yes the portion was way smaller than 2 years ago. Also it was super greasy food.
  
  Well still the place not much service. It seems like the place is way darker than it used to be. I will still not drink from their brown cups. I bought my own water bottle and water.
  
  Also, not sure what happened but it seems like it went downhill by a lot. Yes the place is still pack and busy.

  Whoa, what in the world is this place?! Today is my first and last foot stepping through the door because I immediately felt so gross as I stepped in their walkway this morning. Never have I ever felt so gross in a restaurant like this before!
  
  A friend told me that it's ghetto and I'm like yeah sure without knowing what he meant by ghetto, now I know what he meant by ghetto like legit ghetto food ghetto resto and dirty cups that one of the girls couldn't stand to drink from it that she brought her own water bottle. But why come here?? Because it's cheap breakfast food. You get more than what you pay for. Hence, two stars.
  
  The whole interior is covered in writing. It was as if the walls were trying to speak to me. I went to the bathroom to take a break from this mess but the bathroom walls were also covered in graffiti. Just went to the bathroom to wash my hands, I felt so filthy.
  
  I ordered pancakes 2-high. It was massive and fluffy. It wasn't really dry nor was it tasteless. I knew that my friend didn't just bring me here for nothing. It was even better with a little bit of butter and lots of maple syrup. But would I come back for the pancakes again? Probably not.
  
  And, the table behind us dropped something under his seat and a friend heard him say that it's too dirty to pick it up so they broke a seat somehow. The waitress came to help them but I'm pretty sure everything here is just very dirty.
  
  It is too chaotic for my introverted-ness. This place isn't for me.
